Deeping Rangers play March Town in the final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup at Yaxley
Deeping Rangers will be aiming to end a challenging season on a high as they target cup glory tonight (Tuesday).
The Clarets face March Town in the final of the Hinchingbrooke Cup at Yaxley's MOTiQ Stadium, APG Park, ground (7.45pm).
The final ends a tough season for Rangers who only escaped relegation from the United Counties League Premier Division North in the penultimate match of the campaign.
They face a March side who reached the Premier Division South play-offs before losing in the semi-final to Rugby Borough.
The Hares also lifted the Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup last week with victory over Ely City while Rangers go into the game having not played since completing their league campaign at Wisbech Town on Easter Monday.
Boss Brett Whaley said: "It's a really weird situation where we've had two weeks without a game and we're playing a side who has had three matches in that period.
"It was important how we managed that time because our season isn't finished yet.
"We're playing against a good side and it will be a difficult game so we need to put a lot of hard work in."
Whaley helped Rangers rise out of the danger zone after taking the Deeping helm following the departure of Johnny Alflatt.
They were also backed in their successful battle against relegation by an ever-increasing show of support from the club's fans.
Whaley said: "The fans have been fantastic which has made a massive difference.
"It's great that both the numbers and noise are going up.
"It would have been very easy this season for them to go quiet because it's been so tough but they've got better and better.
"They've really stood up to help us in games and, as I've said about this group of players, this is the start of things to come and hopefully it is for the support as well.
"Hopefully we can all continue to grow together in what will be a massive summer for us."
Deeping have defeated Godmanchester Rovers, FC Peterborough and Eaton Socon en-route to the final.
Two of those successes have come on their travels where Deeping have struggled this season with their poor away form contributing to their league standing.
Whaley explained: "We have to start building going forward and we've only got eight points away from home all season which is atrocious.
"If we only get eight on the board away from home next season then we'll be in exactly the same position.
"We've got to find a way to be better away from home and it is something that we will focus on and look at."
March are the reigning holders of the competition after beating Blackstones in last season's final.
