South Lincs and Border League cricket round-up as Matt Rose takes a hat-trick for Moulton Harrox
Matt Rose took a memorable hat-trick as Moulton Harrox maintained their push for South Lincs and Border League honours on Saturday.
Rose's terrific treble came in the first over of Bourne 2nds' innings as they set about their run chase in the Championship clash.
The all-rounder went on to take 4-33 from his seven over spell as Moulton returned from their trip to the Abbey Lawn with a 46-run victory.
They had been bowled out for 168 after batting first with Robbie Townsend top-scoring for the visitors with 45 while Rose added 25.
Tom Patchett and Drew Kirtland-Blundell took 3-29 and 3-25 respectively for Bourne whose reply was soon wrecked by Rose.
He had opener Jon Howard caught by Townsend for his first wicket and then saw Will Gardner edge the next delivery to the safe hands of wicket-keeper Mark Ramsden.
Rose's hat-trick haul was then completed when he found the outside of Kurt Storey's bat for another safe take from Ramsden.
There was no way back for Bourne despite Patchett making 30 as Harry Lovell provided sterling support to Rose with 3-24 while Flynn McMillan took 2-16 as the hosts were bowled out for 122.
The victory keeps Moulton in second spot, 13 points behind league leaders Burghley Park who were seven-wicket home winners over Newborough thanks to a fine all-round performance from Ryan Gilmour.
Gilmour grabbed four wickets and top-scored with 39 to help Burghley hold onto top spot with a seven-wicket away win at Newborough.
Their hosts had been bowled out for 120 after being put into bat with Gilmour taking 4-18 from his 5.4 overs.
Chirs Logan claimed 3-32 from a nine-over stint for Burghley who passed their target inside 23 overs.
Opener James Laud carried his bat with an unbeaten 37 while Gilmour hit six fours and a six in his 39.
Billingborough remain rooted to the foot of the table after a narrow one-run defeat against Freiston.
Aaron Pullum had picked up 3-38 while Donnel Sylvester, Shane George and Jacob Light all took two wickets each as Freiston were bowled out for 137.
Billingborough were struggling in their reply at 36-6 before Paul Goodwin top-scored with 44 to bring them back into contention.
They were still 20 runs shy of their target when the last wicket partnership of Sylvester and George came together.
Sylvester then struck 28 to take Billingborough to the brink of victory before he was bowled by Muhammad Ansar as Freiston won by the closest of margins.
Long Sutton 2nds secured an emphatic home victory by 157 runs against Heckington in Division One.
Half-centuries from Rajan Sangha and Tim Norris set Sutton on their way before Barry Stanway smashed an unbeaten 89 as the hosts made 233-6 from their 45 overs.
Rob Simpson then took centre stage with the ball as he claimed 7-20 from seven overs while Steve Norris returned 3-16 from five as Heckington were bowled out for 76.
Market Deeping 2nds were beaten by eight wickets against table-topping Ancaster after being bowled out for 93.
Spalding 2nds suffered a 98-run reversal in their match at Orton Park who had been bowled out for 228 after batting first.

Tariq then top-scored with 31 in the Baston reply while Harry Tickler was unbeaten on 22 at the close with Rowan Good who followed up his two wickets with 12 not out.
The victory moved Baston 18 points clear of second-from-bottom Billingborough who were beaten by 68 runs against Orton Park 2nds.
Spalding 3rds were beaten by 85 runs in their Sunday fixture in Division Three at home to Freiston.
Tom Bosco took 4-18 while Josh White claimed 3-38 as Freiston were bowled out for 166 after batting first.
Leighton Graham top-scored with 23 in the Spalding reply as the hosts were dismissed for 81.
