Ruby Hill of Spalding Indoor Bowls Club has won the National Under 25 Singles title
Spalding Indoor Bowls Club ace Ruby Hill has been crowned a national champion for the second time in three years.
Hill won the National Under 25 Singles crown after victory in the competition at Solihull Indoor Bowls Club.
She had won the title for the first time in her career during the 2021/22 season before repeating the feat over the weekend.
Hill had qualified for the finals with wins earlier in the season against Alice Atkin from Church Gresley and Amica Fordy from Hartlepool.
In the quarter-finals, Hill beat Yasmina Hasan from Egham in straight sets and booked her place in the final with another straight sets win in the semi-final against Hannah Smith from Malvern Hills.
Her opposition in the final was fellow Under 25 international Imogen Jenner from Swale.
Hill made light work of the first set by winning 12-3 and scored a timely full house of four shots to go 8-5 up with one end to play in the second set.
She held her nerve to score one shot and win the set 9-5 and take the title for the second time.
Hill will also represent England at the British Isles Championships in March and the Junior World Championships next season.
There was also success for Spalding bowlers Dominic McVittie and Jordan Philpott in the County Sets Singles play-offs at Stamford on Sunday.
Defending champion McVittie kept his hopes alive of a third consecutive county sets singles title with wins against Kevin Rands from Lincoln (2-1), Paul Johnson from Scunthorpe (2-0) and James Staples from Lincoln (2-0).
Philpott got through the day with wins against Mike Kent from Lincoln (2-0), Darren Trapmore from Horncastle (2-0) and a closely contested match against club-mate Martin Spencer on the last end of the tie break (2-1).
Earlier in the day, Spalding's Stephen Harris beat club-mate Dan Mills in the last 16 before losing out to Chris Ballard in the quarter-final.
McVittie will play Ballard in the semi-final while Philpott faces Richard Ashton from Lincoln. The county semi-finals will be played at Louth on Sunday, March 17.
