Spalding Waterpolo hold its annual end of summer tournament at Bourne's outdoor pool





Spalding Waterpolo held its annual end of summer tournament at Bourne's outdoor pool with teams from Grantham and Northampton joining the Sharks and Orcas from the home club.

It kicked off with Sharks taking on Grantham which saw the visitors win 5-9.

Sharks couldn’t contain Olly Civil who scored six goals.

Orcas then took on Northampton in a 9-9 draw.

This went to penalties which Spalding won with goalkeeper Matty Zajac saving two for an additional point.

Orcas then faced Northampton but again it was the visitors that took the win in a 7-12 victory.

Sharks then played Grantham in a close encounter with a 5-4 victory.

It then came to the all Spalding game with Sharks knowing a win would seal the tournament victory.

In a tight game, Sharks managed to succeed but only towards the end finally getting two goals clear with a 7-5 win.

Northampton then took on Grantham and came away with 4-3 victory.

Spalding Sharks took the overall win by a single point ahead of Northampton. Phil James was voted most valuable player for his side.

Most valuable player for the Spalding Orcas was Adam Found.

Spalding Water Polo would like to thank Bourne outdooor pool for hosting the event and to all the clubs for volunteering support on the day.
