Spalding United beat Hitchin Town in the Southern League Premier Division Central
Four wins in their last five games have helped to keep Spalding United's play-off dreams alive.
The Tulips followed up recent successes over Redditch, Stourbridge and Biggleswade with a 3-2 home win over Hitchin Town on Saturday.
Although the victory still leaves Jimmy Dean's side in ninth place in the Southern League Premier Division Central standings, they are now just four points off a coveted top five finish.
Spalding do need to rely on results elsewhere going in their favour, all of the play-off chasing sides will be facing each other in the final six games of the campaign.
Saturday's success over a relegation-threatened Hitchin side took Spalding's goal tally to seven in the last two games.
However, despite their improved attacking prowess taking Spalding into a three-goal lead, they conceded twice shortly after moving into a commanding position.
It mirrored last weekend's game at Biggleswade where the Tulips had taken a four-goal advantage before shipping three goals which is a cause for concern for the Spalding manager.
Dean said: "We look really threatening going forward at the moment.
"We're scoring some good goals and creating some good chances but we have to sort the other side of the game out.
"I'm not being negative but we need a nearly perfect run-in and, if we give goals away like that against some teams, it will hurt us."
Dean had stuck with the same starting line-up which had beaten Biggleswade seven days earlier and Spalding struck three times in the opening 33 minutes.
Joe Nyahwema had already brought a flying save out of Canaries goalkeeper Sebastian Stacey before the Tulips took a 12th minute lead.
Nathan Fox's low cross found Jack Roberts who turned smartly and poked his finish into the far corner of the net for his second goal in as many games.
Roberts headed wide at the back post from a Dion Sembie-Ferris cross shortly after before Spalding doubled their lead midway through the first half.
Fox was again the supplier as the left-back's cross picked out James Clifton for a close range conversion.
Home goalkeeper Aaron Chapman then prevented the visitors from getting back into the game with a smart save as Rio Deall burst clear.
Spalding then added their third goal just past the half-hour mark when Kieron Freeman's set piece was headed home by Sam Cartwright.
However, within just two minutes, Hitchin had cut the deficit as Deall was allowed a free header to steer home Stephen Gleeson's free kick.
The Canaries then struck again three minutes later as Jacob Hutchinson and Liam Brooks combined to set up Deall for his second goal in quick succession.
Spalding were able to see out the rest of the half and then regrouped at the break.
Their game management improved in the second period where clear-cut chances were in short supply for both teams.
But, having got their noses in front on the back of a strong start, Spalding were able to see out the game and it's still all to play for in the remaining weeks of the campaign.
Boss Dean added: "Ultimately, we wanted the three points because it's what any football match is about at any stage of the season.
"We've played well quite a few times this season and haven't got the points so we know what that feels like.
"We needed to come away with three points but it's two weeks running where we've had a substantial lead and then conceded so there's a bit of a problem there.
"We have to accept that because half-time helped us but, if we do what we did in both games after half-time and come out and look after it, then we would probably have got four or five on Saturday.
"We gave them a goal straight after we had scored one which shouldn't be happening because our leaders should be attacking the ball.
"I thought Hitchin did well after that and they played some good football.
"We were a bit all over the place after our third goal thinking the game was dead but, after half-time, we did a good job tactically to nullify what they were doing."
Spalding travel to face Lowestoft Town on Saturday.
