Spalding Hockey Club’s presentation night




Spalding Hockey Club celebrated their annual end of season awards night with many of their members present to toast the season's successes.

The evening started with the awards to those who have developed other club members with their coaching skills.

These were presented to Camille Rogers as junior coach of the year with Barney Harris collecting the senior accolade.

Callum Fravigar was rewarded for his umpiring and coaching efforts with both the young clubperson and young umpire of the year awards.

Tom Pilgrim has developed in the umpiring world this season and he was handed the umpire of the year prize.

Two young players - Honor Moore and Oscar Haunch - who have made great progress on the playing field were presented with the awards for most improved players.

With 36 goals, Charlotte Maplethorpe topped the female goalscorers’ table and this was matched by Stu Cunnington (26 goals) in the men's section.

The teams then presented awards for their own players.

Men's fourth team: Players’ player - Dan Wright, Captain’s player - Rafael Read; ladies' third team: Players' player - Vicky Worrall, Captain's player - Camille Rogers; men's third team: Players’ player - Lucas Baker, Captain’s player - Ben Scholes; ladies' second team: Players' player - Charlotte Maplethorpe and Honor Moore, Captain's player - Kelly Cooper; men's second team: Players' player - Harry Maplethorpe, Captain's player - Matt Pottle; ladies' first team: Players' player - Jess Ball, Captain's player - Pippa Bembridge; men's first team: Players' player - Oscar Haunch, Captain's player - Dan Azzopardi.

The team of the season trophy went to the ladies' seconds who finished the campaign in a fine second place in the league.

The final award was presented to senior club person Charlotte Morris for her outstanding contribution to the club, dedicating her time to developing youngsters as part of the coaching team and captain of the ladies' third team.

The club also celebrated their junior members' achievements with their annual presentation held at Tonic44.

Medals were presented to all players who have attended throughout the season, many of whom have shown great improvement as they are very new to the sport. Individuals were also awarded for their achievements.

Under 10s: Girl - Holly Smith, Boy - Ted Waldron, improved - Stanley Verney; Under 12s: Girl - Megan Wright, Boy - Isaac Davison, improved - James Frascella; Under 14s: Girl - Anya Knights, Boy - Dylan Hind, improved - Kian Atkin.

The club's junior sessions continue on Saturday mornings on May 11 and 18 before they break for the summer.
