Students from the Mark Farnham's Schools of Tae Kwon Do take part in their colour belt grading examinations

Arjun Gopinath was among three juniors to have passed their black belt star gradings from the Mark Farnham's Schools of Tae Kwon Do.

Gopinath was assessed at the club's colour belt grading examinations where he took the next step on the levels of competence within the first dan black belt grade.

The Spalding student was among 124 of his fellow Mark Farnham club-mates to attend the grading where they achieved a 100 percent pass rate.

Students within the 16 Mark Farnham schools have the opportunity to take part in these gradings four times a year.

They are conducted by ninth dan Tae Kwon-Do grand masters from around the country, who each have more than 45 years of experience in the martial art.

To take part in a grading, a student needs to have worked for an allotted time and be up to a good standard for the grade they are taking.

Students all start at white belt and work though yellow, green, blue and red belt grades until they are ready to aim for their black belts which they take at Bristol in front of a panel of five ninth dan grandmaster examiners.

To get to this stage, it will take a minimum of three-and-a-year years depending on how well a student progresses.

The event started with a one hour training session where the students ran through the requirements and then they took part in their grading session which saw the Spalding, Holbeach and Long Sutton schools all represented.
