Grading success for Mark Farnham Schools of Tae Kwon-Do
There was again a 100 per cent pass rate when students of the Mark Farnham Schools of Tae Kwon-Do took part in their colour belt grading.
They are held four times a year and have been established since 1987 with more than 15,600 students passing colour belt gradings within the Mark Farnham schools.
The gradings are conducted by ninth dan tae kwon-do grand masters from around the country who each have more than 45 years of martial arts experience.
To take part in a grading, a student needs to have worked for an allotted time and be up to a good standard for the grade they are taking.
Students all start at white belt and work though yellow, green, blue and red until they are ready to aim for their black belts which they take in front of a panel of five examiners.
Gradings are held on Sundays and start with a one hour training session where the student runs through the requirements for their grading, and then they take part in their grading session.
Ninety-five of Mark Farnham's students from all his clubs attend the gradings on the day with some children down to the age of five years taking part.
This included two black belt juniors taking star gradings, which are levels of competence within the first dan black belt grade.
