Holbeach United host Harwich & Parkeston in the Thurlow Nunn League

A season of progress could also result in a play-off place for Holbeach United ahead of two crucial clashes.

The Tigers have remained on the edge of the Thurlow Nunn League Division One North play-off places for the majority of the campaign after improving their points haul from last term.

They are already six points better off than the previous season's tally with seven matches of their campaign still remaining which has pleased manager Danny Clifton.

He commented: "There are so many angles to look at the current situation and it would be lovely to get into the play-offs.

"It would be amazing and a great achievement, but the main thing when I took over was progressing the football club.

"Our points total this season are a progression on last year which is one of the things I can be pleased about.

"We are progressing as a club with Holbeach players which everyone is pleased about. They have developed through the club and we haven't completely changed the outlook of it by bringing in our own players.

"Of course you want to win promotions and trophies, but I said that I wanted to come in and progress the football club and Saturday's win was another milestone in doing that. Whatever comes next is a bonus."

Clifton's side are just a point adrift of the play-off spots with their next two games against Harwich & Parkeston who currently occupy the coveted fifth place.

They host the Essex side on Saturday at Carter's Park before making the reverse trip next weekend with Clifton setting his sights on a victory double after an excellent victory at fourth-placed Holland last weekend.

He added: "All of the teams around us also won at the weekend so it didn't really change a lot.

"The fact that we won has kept it alive again and the next two games are even bigger now.

"If we can get six points against Harwich then it will certainly make it interesting but it is a big ask.

"We have got a good, young side with a strong record at home and we had a good win away on Saturday so we should be going into it confident."

Pinchbeck United and Deeping Rangers both have home matches on Saturday in the United Counties League Premier Division North.

The Knights host Belper United at the Sir Halley Stewart ground while the Clarets entertain third-placed Loughborough Students with new manager Johnny Alflatt seeking his first win since taking the helm after back-to-back defeats in his first two games.

Division One leaders Bourne are at home to third-placed Newark Town in a crunch clash in their chase for championship honours.

Spalding travel to Rugby Town in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division having seen their midweek match against Lye Town called off due to a waterlogged pitch at the Sir Halley Stewart.
