Victories for Holbeach United and Pinchbeck United in the Thurlow Nunn League
Holbeach triumphed in a topsy-turvy tussle to move above visiting Gorleston Reserves in the Thurlow Nunn League Division One North table after victory at Carter's Park on Saturday.
The Tigers twice trailed their Norfolk visitors before getting back onto level terms and then hitting the front with 20 minutes remaining.
Gorleston then missed a late penalty as Holbeach took the three points to move up into eighth place.
Holbeach had handed debuts to new signings Marley Hamilton and Josh Doran following their arrivals from Harrowby United and Boston Town respectively.
They fell behind after just five minutes but had levelled shortly after when Sam Carter scored from the penalty spot.
Gorleston regained the lead midway through the first half and maintained their advantage going into the interval.
However, Holbeach needed just seven minutes of the second half to restore parity again as Doran delivered an inswinging free-kick that passed through a mass of bodies in the penalty area before nestling in the far corner of the Gorleston net.
Kelvin Ibeneme was introduced shortly after and within 17 minutes of his arrival he had put Holbeach in front.
Gorleston could still have grabbed a point with 10 minutes remaining when they were awarded a penalty but the spot kick was fired over the crossbar and Holbeach held out to take the points.
Two second half goals from Krisztian Gagyi earned Pinchbeck United victory from their long trip to Wivenhoe.
After a goalless opening half, Gagyi grabbed the opening goal just past the hour mark before sealing the success with nine minutes remaining.
The victory leaves Pinchbeck in 11th place. They host Bourne Town on Tuesday night in the quarter-final of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy.
