Round-up of the stock car action from King's Lynn's Adrian Flux Arena

It was a night of two halves at the stock car racing at King’s Lynn on Saturday - with conditions of near perfection at the start of the meeting and the heavens opening just over halfway through the night and making conditions very difficult.

Unfortunately the big money People’s Trophy for the F2 Stock Cars was the event which was affected the most by the heavy rain and, although it was still a great race, it did spoil what was building up to be a tremendous spectacle.

A large number of local drivers were in action in the F2 Stock Cars, with teenage star grade driver Charlie Tomblin having the most success - coming home in third place in the big money race with only Scottish multi-champion Gordon Moodie and Chorley’s Jack Witts beating him.

Tomblin took things steady in his heat with the aim just to qualify for the final - and he did just that with a ninth place finish.

In the big race – which was held in very difficult conditions – Tomblin made a meteoric start and was in the top 10 by the third lap, only to be caught out a couple of laps later which saw him lose time and fall out of the top 20.

Tomblin battled back up the places though, and was able to take advantage of a big crash which took out half-a-dozen front running cars when the race was restarted following a suspension.

This left him in second place, and he battled on well trying to chase down Gordon Moodie - with only Witts forcing a way past him in the closing stages. Tomblin also recorded the fastest lap of the race.

Pat Issit also had a great race, having qualified with a seventh place finish in his heat, and he crossed the line behind Tomblin with a great fourth place in the big race.

Barry Clow continued his good form with a second place finish in his heat, and Jack Issit was extremely unlucky when he crashed out of heat two while challenging Connor Blake for the lead - but did bounce back to qualify for the final with a second place finish in the A consolation.

Jason Clow brought out a smart car and was thrilled to qualify for the final with it at its first meeting with a great 10th place finish in the B consolation.

Long Sutton’s Simon Venni had an eventful night in the 2L Stock Cars, where things started off well with a solid third place finish in his first heat before he crashed out spectacularly in the second heat performing a high speed ‘Wall of Death’ routine.

Simon’s brother Rowan had an eighth place finish in the opening heat before smashing his gearbox and diff in the second.

Wes Starmer continued his good form with a third place finish in his heat, which was backed up with a strong sixth place finish in the final that was won by Dereham’s Tommy Barnes.

Caine Parnell took full advantage of his last meeting from the white grade before an upgrading comes into effect from July 1 with a trio of runner-up finishes, coming home in second place in all of his races.

There is no racing at King’s Lynn this weekend, with events returning on July 2-3.
