Holbeach United striker Connor Pilbeam joins Sleaford Town

Top scorer Connor Pilbeam has departed Holbeach United after netting a higher level move.

Pilbeam has joined United Counties League Premier Division North side Sleaford Town.

The Greens defeated Holbeach last month in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy with Pilbeam's performance prompting a seven-day approach.

The striker has netted 15 goals in 17 games for the Tigers this season in the Thurlow Nunn League Division One North.

Holbeach boss Danny Clifton said: "Connor has been an outstanding player for us and a joy to work with.

"I understand his reasons for moving on and we all wish him well at his new club. He's a great player and a fantastic person."

Holbeach travel to AFC Sudbury Reserves on Saturday looking to build on last weekend's excellent home win over Stanway Pegasus.

The Tigers will tackle a Sudbury side who are two points and two places above Clifton's charges in the league table.

The Holbeach manager added: "It was a good win on Saturday but the game this weekend is probably even harder.

"It is a really tough game because they are extremely well coached and are a good footballing side, especially at home.

"They footballed us to death last season and, although we somehow came away with a 3-1 win, I'm expecting the same on Saturday."

Pinchbeck and Bourne Town both have home matches on Saturday in the United Counties League.

The Knights host Belper United in the Premier Division North while table-topping Bourne take on Birstall United in a Division One match at the JJ Mac Stadium.

Deeping Rangers are without a game this weekend.
