Youngsters from Spalding Town Cricket Club will get the chance to play at Nottinghamshire's Trent Bridge ground
Spalding Town Cricket Club's Under 11s side have been chosen to enjoy a matchday experience at Nottinghamshire's Trent Bridge ground.
The youngsters will get to play a game on the outfield during the interval of the T20 Blast game between the Notts Outlaws and Lancashire Lightning on Sunday, June 9.
They were one of five teams selected at random to take part in the initiative which is run by Lincolnshire Cricket in conjunction with Nottinghamshire in offering all clubs in the county with an active Under 11 junior section the opportunity to win the matchday experience.
The team is coached by Jemma Frascella who was full of praise for the thriving junior section at the club.
She said: "Our junior section has grown rapidly in the last two years and we're really proud to be able to field teams across all the junior age groups.
"Our youngest members in the Under 9 and Under 11 teams love their cricket, have lots of fun at training, and play with the biggest smiles on their faces.
"It's fantastic to be able to offer them such an amazing experience. It's not every day you get to play cricket in front of thousands of people at a ground like Trent Bridge."
The Spalding club has more than 35 children aged between eight and 11 playing across three teams - Under 9 softball cricket, Under 11 softball cricket and Under 11 hardball cricket.
The juniors have been training indoors since the beginning of February and the season has only just started after what has felt like a long wait for the players.
The Under 11 softball team recently played their first game, losing by just two runs to Long Sutton in a final over decider.
The Under 9s have started with two matches against Moulton Harrox and Bourne while the Under 11 hardball team played their first game against Peterborough.
