Spalding United visit Harborough Town in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division

Spalding United will be aiming to regain pole position in the race for the Northern Premier League Midlands Division title this weekend.

The Tulips travel to face current table-toppers Harborough Town on Saturday in an eagerly-anticipated clash between the two leading lights in the division.

Just one point separates the two sides at the top of the table but Harborough do have a game in hand over the Tulips who go into the contest on the back of an impressive win last weekend.

They defeated play-off chasing Sporting Khalsa 5-0 at the Sir Halley Stewart ground while Harborough went down to a 3-2 home loss to Sutton Coldfield.

The defeat was Harborough's first league loss since the end of August while Spalding will go into Saturday's match on the back of a three-match winning run.

Manager Elliot Sandy said: "Harborough are top of the league with a game in hand and they're the benchmark at the moment so we'll see where we are at but we're coming into December right in the mix which is where we want to be.

"We've got three wins on the spin and they've just had a defeat after flying high and we know ourselves how that can affect a team.

"It's how you bounce back and I know a lot of the lads at Harborough and the manager Mitch Austin well.

"They're a top group of players with a top manager and I know they'll be right up there come the end of the season so it's going to be one hell of a game and we'll look forward to it.

"We're going have to be really at it but we'll work hard in training and we're full of confidence so it should be an exciting game."
