Spalding United host Barwell in the Southern League Premier Division Central
Spalding boss Jimmy Dean wants his side to start turning their performance levels into points ahead of a crucial home clash on Saturday.
The Tulips boss has been encouraged by his side's displays in their last three games in the Southern League Premier Division Central.
However, they have picked up four points out of a possible nine from games against Stratford, Bishop's Stortford and Redditch and remain in the relegation zone.
They host 16th-placed Barwell at the Sir Halley Stewart ground on Saturday where victory will move the Tulips onto the same amount of points as their Leicestershire visitors.
Dean said: "I look at performance levels as much as anything else and the last three games have been good.
"We played well at Stratford and, despite having a good performance level against Bishop's Stortford, we left ourselves far too open.
"I did say that it was a quick fix tactically and we did sort it out at Redditch on Saturday. We controlled the ball and restricted them to minimal efforts.
"We've got to start taking chances better now, being better in the final third and making things happen. It is the kind of stuff that we're trying to move forward with."
New signing Theo Hudson marked his debut as a second half substitute by giving Spalding the lead at play-off chasing Redditch on Saturday.
However, an equaliser from Johnny Johnston with nine minutes remaining earned the fifth-placed Reds a share of the spoils.
Dean commented: "I thought that we were the better team for the best part of the game, although I would have liked to have been a bit more effective in the opponents' penalty area.
"On one hand, we were away to a side who are in the play-off places though so, in my opinion, it was a great point.
"But, on the other hand and I don't say it lightly, it was disappointing not to win the game because we were rarely troubled."
Hudson has been recruited to boost a strike force that is now without the departed trio of Jordan Graham, Tyler Winters and Sam Bennett.
The 6ft 3ins frontman played at Norwich City and Barnsley during the early stages of his career before joining King's Lynn.
He was recommended to the Tulips by former Mansfield, Torquay, Barrow, Guiseley, Kettering Town and Boston United boss Paul Cox.
Dean explained: "We do need some extra competition up there and Paul is someone that I trust and he knows a player.
"Theo's raw and there's stuff that he's both very good at and not so good at but he's got something about him and he's ready to contribute."
Hudson is expected to be in the Spalding squad for Saturday's vital home match against a Barwell side which could feature former Middlesbrough, Reading and Bristol City striker Leroy Lita.
Barwell have taken 10 points from their last six games and scored three times in the final six minutes to beat AFC Sudbury last Saturday.
However, Dean is targeting three points for the Tulips who dropped back into the danger zone after their match at home to Stourbridge was postponed a fortnight ago.
He said: "Saturday is a game that we need to be winning - there's no two ways about it.
"Barwell are not in bad form so it will be a difficult game but we've just got to get ourselves right and go from there.
"We can't look at the league position too much. We've just got to focus on the next game, get that right and get some points on the board.
"I think we would be a mid-table side with the results since I came in. The four defeats in the five games before that have left us where we are.
"We need continuity now. We were desperate for players when I came in and I really feared for us but we're not in that place any more.
"If we do bring any more players in then they've got to be ready to improve us. That is where we will be now and there certainly won't be loads of players coming in between now and the end of the season."
Spalding have four further games this month as they travel to Alvechurch next weekend before hosting table-topping Kettering on Saturday. December 21.
A Boxing Day derby at Stamford is then followed by a home match with St Ives on Saturday, December 28.
