Pre-season round-up featuring wins for Spalding United and Bourne Town




Spalding United made a rapid return to winning ways in their second pre-season friendly on Tuesday night.

The Tulips had gone down to a one-goal away reversal at Bourne Town in their opening outing ahead of the new campaign.

However, a second half goal from James Clifton secured success for Jimmy Dean's side in their match at Northern Premier League newcomers Lincoln United.

The Tulips travel to Hemel Hempstead on Saturday.

Bourne Town were 5-0 home winners over Pinchbeck United in their midweek match with Robbie Ellis among their goalscorers after netting twice.

The Wakes visit Harrowby United on Saturday for a friendly with the two sides set to meet again in a fortnight in the FA Cup.

After Zak Munton's decision to join Boston Town, the Wakes have also lost the services of frontman James Hill-Seekings who has moved to United Counties League Premier Division South side March Town.

The Hares host Deeping Rangers - who are in action tonight (Wednesday) against Harrowby United in the final of the South Kesteven Charity Cup - on Saturday.

Pinchbeck have a home match against Grantham Town on Saturday at Knight Street (1pm).

Holbeach head to United Counties League Premier Division South side Histon for a noon kick-off on Saturday after defeat in a midweek loss at Wisbech St Mary.

Despite taking the lead through Marley Hamilton, their Cambridgeshire League hosts hit back twice to secure the victory.

Holbeach have arranged an extra pre-season friendly against Lincolnshire League side Wyberton at Carter's Park for Tuesday, July 22, ahead of the start of the Thurlow Nunn League season.

They get their Division One North campaign underway on Saturday, July 26, with a home match against Needham Market Reserves.

The Tigers are currently under the caretaker management of Callum Lawe and Callum Madigan following the departure of Chris Carter.

They have seen Ryan Cook, Harvey Thorne and Ben Greenacre all join Deeping Rangers while Jordan Keeble, Kyle Compton, Josh Simpson, Cam Lee and Josh Ling have followed former assistant boss Mark Greenacre to Peterborough League side Long Sutton.

Forward Callum Wright has also moved on after signing for Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side Heacham.

The Norfolk side have a friendly at Blackstones tonight (Wednesday).
