Peterborough and District Football League round-up




Avi Vieira scored four times as Whaplode Drove Rovers recorded a convincing victory in the Peterborough League on Saturday.

The former Pinchbeck and Holbeach marksman's four-goal haul helped Rovers to a 9-0 home success over Wittering Premiair in their Division One match.

Steve Jucikas, Will Knight, Adam Richardson, Ryan Ellwood and Sam Miller were also on target in Whaplode's penultimate game of the season.

Crowland Town were 2-1 away winners at Holbeach United Reserves in the Premier Division thanks to goals from Archie Rickards and Danny Firth. Flynn Hyde netted for the Tigers.

Crowland were then beaten 3-1 at home by champions Uppingham Town on Tuesday.

Deeping Rangers Reserves went down to a 3-0 away loss at Ramsey Town in the top flight on Saturday before being beaten 3-1 in midweek by Moulton Harrox whose goals came from Louis Steadman (two) and Mason Shores.

Xennon Paul hit a hat-trick for Crowland Reserves in their 6-3 away success at Hampton United Reserves in Division Two.

Substitute Kieran Bellamy bagged a brace with Jake Woodward also on target.

Sutton Bridge went down to a 4-3 away loss at Stamford Bels Reserves despite goals from Joshua Stockdale, Ben Thompson and Aaron Rouse.

Tydd lost 2-0 at home to Oakham United Reserves while Bourne Town Reserves still need a point to clinch second spot after a 3-2 home loss to Stamford Lions.

South Lincs Swifts still have their sights set on second spot in Division Three after a 4-3 away success at Uppingham Reserves on Saturday.

All of their goals came in the second half with Corey Compton, Tommy Coote, Kieron McConnell and Jordan Olive netting for the Swifts.

That was followed by a 6-2 away win at Long Sutton Reserves in midweek after goals from Dawid Gos, Nicky Haw, Ben Mansour (two), McConnell and Keane Slayven.

The victory double keeps Swifts in third spot, three points behind second-placed Stamford Reserves with a game in hand.

They are also above fourth-placed Stanground Cardea Sports on goal difference with the Peterborough side winning 4-1 in their midweek match at Moulton Harrox Reserves.

The final of the Spalding Inter-Services Cup takes place on Saturday night.

Tydd face Long Sutton in the final at Holbeach United's Carter's Park ground with a 6.45pm kick-off.

Admission is £4 for adults, £2 concessions and £1 children.

The match is being sponsored by Morris & Haynes of Holbeach and there will also be a programme (£1) and raffle (£1 per strip) with numerous prizes.

A hat-trick from Markus Turunen helped Pinchbeck United Development to a 5-0 victory over Spilsby Town Reserves in the Boston League.

Braidon Coupland and Finlay Andrew were also on target for the Knights who have moved up into fifth spot in the Premier Division.
