Drivers Matt Black, Callum White and Cieran Harmer race in the 2L Banger World Final at King’s Lynn

There was differing levels of success for local drivers last weekend.

Matt Black, Callum White and Cieran Harmer were in action in the 2L Banger World Final at King’s Lynn.

White put in a great performance to come home in fourth place in the feature race while Black also impressed en-route to an 18th place finish out of 53 starters.

Black – who qualified for the big race back in 2019 and had a long wait to take his place on the grid after the event was hit with a Covid induced delayed – was delighted.

He said: “I was over the moon just to qualify for the 2L Banger World Final – I never thought I would get onto the grid in such a big race.

“To then go and actually finish the race was unbelievable. It has been an amazing night.”

Rob Heanes was the best local performer in the 2L Stock Cars as he came home in an impressive seventh place in the meeting final.

Despite it being his first ever 2L Stock Car meeting, grass track racer Andrew Still impressed and came home in 10th place in the meeting final and, despite not finishing in the places in the final, Rowan Venni had a good sixth place spot in his heat.

Sophie Allen had a ride on the wild side in the Junior Bangers when she rolled her car over in the meeting final while Ben Kaleta continued his recent good form with a fine sixth place finish in the final which was backed up with a strong third place finish in his heat.

Local BriSCA F1 and F2 Stock Car drivers were out in force at Northampton over the weekend where the European Championship was staged and there were some quite simply stunning performances.

F1 Stock Car racer Finn Sargent had the best weekend of his career where he won the meeting final on the Saturday night and qualified on the front row of the European Championship where he came home in a star studded field in an incredible fifth place.

Teenager Charley Tomblin was sensational in the F2 Stock Cars.

After winning the final on Saturday night which saw him qualify for the European Championship in the random draw for grid position for the Euro race, he pulled out number one.

What no-one then expected was that in such a star-studded field the young pilot would still be in the lead as he took the five laps to go board after leading for 20
laps.

He then clashed with Leeds star grade driver Billy Webster when they were battling for the lead and in the end neither car finished, but a remarkable performance from a driver who has not yet competed in 10 meetings.

BriSCA action comes to King’s Lynn this Saturday (5pm) where both the F1 and F2 Stock Cars are in action.

The F1 Stock Cars compete in their first World Championship semi final to identify the first set of drivers who will qualify for the world final at Bradford in September.

Finn Sargent is on the grid for this one and he will enter the race full of confidence following his great set of results.

He will also be sporting a red roof for the first time after reaching ninth place in the national points which is just reward for Sargent after some stunning performances.

Drivers who will not be in this semi but will be racing at the meeting include Finn’s father Mark Sargent and Jim Bamford.

Charley Tomblin will be another driver looking to bring over his form from Northampton last weekend but this time he will be looking to translate it in the F2 Stock Cars.

Other local drivers in action in the F2 Stock Cars include James Waterfall, Justin Parker, Dan Booth, Lewis Mitchell, Barry Clow and Pat and Jack Issit.
