Scott Williams faces Luke Humphries in the semi-finals of the Paddy Power World Darts Championship
Scott Williams insists he won't dare to start dreaming about being crowned world champion after moving within just two wins of glory.
Williams is through to the semi-finals of the Paddy Power World Darts Championship where he faces Luke Humphries in the last four tonight (Tuesday).
The Swineshead showman is enjoying his best-ever run at darts' biggest event in only his second year of competing at the Alexandra Palace.
But the one-time Spalding and Holbeach league player won't be getting carried away ahead of the semi-final showdown with the world number three.
Williams said: "Words can't describe how I'm feeling at the moment.
"I've only been playing professionally for four or five years so it's crazy and ridiculous to be in this position.
"I've played Luke on the stage before but this format is a little new for me so I'm just going to enjoy it regardless.
"I know I'm only two wins away from the title but I'm not daring to dream at all."
He was a 5-3 victor against the three-times world champion who hadn't dropped a set in any of his previous victories.
However, the Dutchman failed to recapture his form of the earlier rounds and Williams punished his opponent's series of missed doubles.
The world number 52 commented: "Michael's probably the best player of my generation.
"He wasn't the Michael Van Gerwen who we've seen over the last two or three games but that doesn't matter to me because I beat him.
"I could kind of tell while we were bulling up and during the practice that he was just that little bit off.
"As soon as the crowd started to get involved that was when I began playing my darts late on in the game.
"It wasn't about what he did in this game, it was about what I did and I hit the doubles and trebles and I am the one who has gone through."
The other semi-final will see teenage sensation Luke Littler take on Williams' close friend Rob Cross. All of the players in the last four are guaranteed to win £100,000.
