World Cup final referee Wayne Barnes is the guest speaker at Spalding Rugby Club
World Cup final referee Wayne Barnes was the main speaker as Spalding Rugby Club's Centenary celebrations continued with a series of event over the Bank Holiday weekend.
More than 200 guests attended the black tie speakers dinner including sponsors, vice-presidents, past and present players and friends.
Barnes gave a very interesting speech about how he started out as a 21-year-old, rapidly being promoted through the ranks and becoming the youngest referee in the Six Nations and going on to officiate 100 international games.
The memorable night was followed 24 hours later by 170 boys and parents attending an awards dinner for the club's Under 13s, Under 14s and Under 15s squads.
The mini rugby accolades were then handed out on Sunday morning with more than 200 boys and girls with parents attending.
The club then hosted three Lincolnshire Cup finals with Kesteven winning the intermediate competition after a 43-10 success over Grimsby.
Stamford then completed a county cup double in the other two finals with victories over Scunthorpe.
They were 71-5 winners in the inaugural Women's Cup before the men's first team defeated Scunthorpe 29-28 in the Senior Cup final.
