Two brothers are bringing a taste of Mediterranean to town.

Ben and Toby Cripps launched No.23 in High Street East, Uppingham on Thursday (November 24).

The pair, who own development company Langton Homes, recently started their journey in hospitality.

The building, which was a McColl's newsagents, has had a 'pretty impressive' renovation, according to Ben.

"It is a beautiful Georgian building," he said.

"We love bringing these old buildings to life that may have been neglected.

"We rescued it which is part of its charm.

"It is on the High Street so will have a good footfall too."

The inside dining area will be able to seat 45 people as well as further space in an outside courtyard area.

The space above the restaurant will be used for the pair's Langton Homes offices.

Ben said: "We recently got into pubs and restaurants.

"Being based in the area and having gone to Oakham School, we have always been really fond of Uppingham."

The chefs will experiment with food from a number of different countries all of a Mediterranean style.

A key part of the appeal is that pasta will be made fresh at the site and a brunch service will be offered at the weekends.

Ben says that from talking to people in the town there is a demand for it.

"It is an opportunity for another good place in Uppingham in a great building," he said.

"There seems to be quite a lot of excitement already.

"We are taking a lot of bookings."
