Accidents result in delays on A1

Two accidents involving multiple vehicles on the A1 near Wittering and Wansford resulted in long traffic delays.

No serious injuries were reported in the incidents, which caused tailbacks stretching for several miles.

In the first incident, a vehicle travelling on the southbound carriageway hit the central reservation just before noon while four vehicles travelling on the northbound carriageway were involved in an accident around 40 minutes later.

One lane was closed due to the collision and long delays were reported.

Highways England Tweeted that the lane has since been reopened and congestion is easing.
