Actors join celebrations to mark Oakham School’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre’s 40th anniversary




A school theatre’s 40th anniversary was celebrated with alumni from the world of theatre and arts returning to join the festivities.

The 40th celebrations of Oakham School’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre began with a performance of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Alumni actors Miles Jupp and Richard Hope took to the stage following the final bow to present director of drama Gilly Norell with a bouquet of flowers.

The audience then enjoyed a commemorative film featuring heartfelt reflections from Oakham School alumni in theatre and the arts, including actor Matthew Macfadyen, indie group Sea Girls, actor Fiona Sheehan and director of Sky News David Gilman.
