Gallery: Stamford's Mid-Lent Fair draws huge crowds on its opening night

Stamford's Mid-Lent Fair attracted huge crowds for its opening night.

Chairman of the Showman's Guild William Percival was joined by the town's deputy mayor Breda Griffin for the traditional opening ceremony next to the Waltzers on Broad Street on Monday evening.

Town and district councillors had a spin on the dodgems and carousel as the popular event got under way.

This year's fair has more than 90 rides and attractions spread along Broad Street, Red Lion Square, Star Lane, Sheepmarket and Bath Row.

The fair will run every day until 10pm on Saturday, April 6.

Discount vouchers for 30p off children's rides and 50p off adult rides are available at South Kesteven District Council's office in Maiden Lane.
