Apprentice Stamford carpenter who lost his temper in the Millstone Inn in Stamford and punched a man
An apprentice carpenter who punched a man in a Stamford pub has been ordered to pay his victim £500 compensation.
Ewan Clipston, 18, admitted throwing the single punch in an unprovoked attack after "snapping" and losing his temper in the Millstone Inn.
His victim attended hospital in Peterborough where he required four to five stitches to the inside of his cheek after the force of blow led to his skin being pierced by a tooth.
Clipston, of Tobias Grove, Stamford, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm following the incident on January 26 this year.
Lincoln Magistrates Court heard the disagreement occurred after Clipston's victim had some money taken from the top of a pool table in the pub.
Marie Stace, prosecuting, said the man was refunded with £1 but was later approached by Clipston who had not been involved in the pool table incident.
Miss Stace said the victim felt one "quick, hard" punch from Clipston and heard a "popping sound".
The man left the pub but his girlfriend later returned and threw a pint of beer over Clipston.
During interview Clipston admitted consuming seven to eight pints of lager and "snapping" after having too much to drink.
David Eager, mitigating, told the court Clipston had no previous convictions and was in a position to pay compensation to his victim with a job as an apprentice carpenter.
A probation assessment showed Clipston was "very remorseful" and regretted what he had done.
Magistrates ordered Clipston to pay his victim £500 compensation and he must also complete 60 hours of unpaid work in the community.
