“Alison is a Deepings’ favourite and crime is a very popular genre after she appeared in 2017,” said Coun Judy Stevens (Ind), one of the organisers of the South Kesteven District Council-organised event.

“We are really exited about this year’s event.

“It’s really good for the Deepings and it’s really important to promote the Deepings as a destination.

“This is one of the ways in which we can can do it.

“Some of the feedback that we have received from last year was that our festival was a bit more intimate than some of the more well-established and bigger festivals.”

Judy said that venues across the Deepings will be used for the festival.

Big names such as John Sergeant and Sophie Hannah will be giving talks about their works along with well-known actress, writer and film maker Carol Drinkwater speaking at The Granary, complete with brunch and music from the Herbie Lamb Quartet.

Returning this year will also be the quirky Read Dating.

Based on Speed Dating, it allows people to be introduced to new authors and and their works as well as showcasing local writers.
