SCBX opens in Chapel Yard off North Street, Stamford next to Another Salon and Sunset Beach tanning shop
A dream has come true for a beautician who has opened her own salon in Stamford.
Shannon Shevlin has opened SCBX next to Another Salon in Chapel Yard, North Street.
The 27-year-old has been self employed in the beauty industry for six years and has been based at a number of salons in Stamford.
This is the first time she has had a salon under her own name.
“It is scary but so exciting,” she said.
After finishing school Shannon started her working life in sales but became intrigued by microblading - a semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing technique.
Shannon, from Ryhall, said: “I thought ‘I could do that’ so I gave up everything and took the plunge.
“I took out a loan to do the course and sold my car.”
Initially Shannon started part-time but on seeing the demand she focussed on beauty and began to expand her services.
Having done further courses, she now offers semi-permanent makeup, eyelash extensions and aesthetics such as botox, filler and fat dissolving injections.
Shannon believes that in Stamford there was a ‘gap in the market’ for semi-permanent makeup.
Shannon said: “I always wanted to do more.
“The other services I have chosen are things I am passionate about.
“I would never do anything that I don’t believe in.”
She added: “With everything, I try it first to make sure it does work and is good value for money.
“The main focus is that everything I do is the best for my clients – I put them first.”
Shannon enjoys making her clients ‘feel beautiful’, particularly those who may have lost hair due to cancer or alopecia.
Nail technician Alexis Agidee, 22, from Stamford has joined Shannon at SCBX.
Having recently finished university this will be Alexis’ first job in the town.
People can book appointments at the salon, which opened on April 25, with Shannon by messaging SCBX on Facebook or with Alexis by messaging @lexsnails_ on Instagram.
