Deepings and Kirkby Underwood winners of South Kesteven's Best Kept Village competition receive certificates
Winners of South Kesteven District Council’s 2019 Best Kept Village competition have received certificates to reward their hard work with parish councillors attending special presentations.
Deeping St James took top honours in the competition organised jointly between the council and the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), running in parallel to the county village awards.
Runner up was Kirkby Underwood.
In a Past Winners category, open to any village with a population under 7,000 which had won its class in any of the previous four years, Barrowby was judged the winner, with Claypole as the runner up.
South Kesteven District Council chairman Coun Jacky Smith presented certificates after Coun Dr Peter Moseley, cabinet member for commercial and operations, announced the winners at a meeting of the full council.
“We are here to celebrate the efforts our villages have put in to keep them looking terrific for their residents and visitors,” said Coun Moseley.
“It’s a great legacy of the Big Clean and we are working hard to ensure that the competition continues.”
