Fruity event in Bourne Wood made a return
Visitors had the chance to explore an orchard and see what it had for offer over the weekend.
Friends of Bourne Wood held an event in the community orchard near Beech Avenue on Sunday (October 9).
The event has been held for about 10 years and its aim is to educate the community of its use and what is on offer.
Sarah Roberts, chairperson of the Friends of Bourne Wood, said: “The weather was glorious for the day and there was a steady flow of people coming to enjoy it.”
There was an opportunity for visitors to press apples and make apple juice.
The orchard is open to enjoy at weekends but Sarah wants to raise awareness within the community that it is there and the variety of apples it produces.
People could buy some apples at the event in exchange for a small donation.
A plant stall gave visitors a chance to browse and tea, coffee and cake were available to fill people’s appetite.
