A helpline for people with mental health problems has been given a boost by a local communications company.

MindSpace Stamford was set up three years ago by Dr Dan Petrie to raise awareness of mental health issues and give people a chance to talk openly about their problems.

Thanks to the Stamford Telephone Company it now has a dedicated landline telephone number for people to access the service.

Messages are directed to a mobile application and users will then get a response from the team within 48 hours.

Dr Petrie said: “Stamford Telephone Company have provided us with a really efficient and effective system which is perfect for our needs.

“Both Mike and Chris are extremely customer focussed and our new phone system with a bespoke voicemail from myself was up and running in less than a day.”

Director of the communications firm, Mike Adams, said: “We are delighted to be supporting such a worthwhile charity and look forward to continuing working with Stamford MindSpace as their organisation grows and requires more of our services.”

MindSpace attracts around 30 users each week.

The services available include a weekly walking group which meets on Wednesdays at 2.30pm at the Evergreen Care Trust office on Barnack Road.

There is also weekly drop-in sessions at The Shack on the Recreation Ground on Thursdays from 7-9pm for people to meet up and chat with like-minded people.
