Rutland Show dunk tank by Smith Eliot Financial Management raises money for Solving Kids' Cancer
A ‘dunk tank’ at this year’s Rutland Show raised £2,150 for Solving Kids’ Cancer, with more money coming in.
The event was arranged by Oakham-based Smith Eliot Financial Management, which invited people to nominate their bosses, colleagues or friends to be dunked in front of show-goers on June 2.
Brave participants included Vernon Moore, managing director of Moores Estate Agents; Stephen Smith, Sean Connolly and Caroline Cole from Smith Eliot Financial Management; Rob Guyatt from St James’s Place Wealth Management; Rutland Radio presenter Rob Persani; Tom Berridge from Catmose College; Alex from Vape Central; Simon Cawthorne and Dan Adams from the hairdresser’s Simon Cawthorne and Caroline from Langrick and Coe Optometrists and Opticians.
The Smith Eliot stand - which received a highly commended certificate from the show on the day -featured a large teepee offering face painting and hair braiding, with donations for the charity encouraged.
The company also organised a flash mob by Rutland Youth Dance Academy, which treated visitors to a series of dances throughout the day.
Charlotte Smith, of Smith Eliot, said: “It was a real pleasure to come together and support Solving Kids’ Cancer.
“The charity is a comforting presence for families at their darkest times and we want to do everything possible to support the important work that they do.
“We are so grateful to St James’s Place, our clients and fellow businesses for the support they have shown us and the generous donations we have managed to raise – all of which will certainly be put to good use.”
