Staff from Bourne’s cardiac rehabilitation team are training hard for a five-hour charity cycle.

The team runs a programme that supports patients who have suffered a recent heart problem. Patients take part in an exercise programme with heart healthy educational talks incorporating the benefits of exercise, healthy eating, stress management, emergency life support, the causes of heart disease and heart support group information.

From 9am until 2pm on Saturday, February 6, members of the team will take turns to cycle on an exercise bike in the Tesco supermarket in Cherry Holt Road, Bourne, to raise as much money as possible for charity.

Cardiac rehab assistant for Lincolnshire Community Health Services Paula Groves said: “We really need the public’s support for this event. Any donation big or small and words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated.

“We will be peddling our way to victory for five hours in our own time. The proceeds from whatever we raise will be split between the British Heart Foundation and to purchase health education equipment for our service users.”
