Schools’ out for summer and staff at Bourne Academy have proved they’re game for a laugh by making a video of themselves miming and dancing along to songs including Michael Jackson’s Thriller which has gone viral.

The video, which features teachers – including principal Laurence Reilly – starts with four members of staff dressed in lab coats and goggles re-enacting the infamous opening sequences of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, which is followed by another clip of a large group in the school grounds dancing in formation to Thriller.

Other songs featured include 500 miles by The Proclaimers, MC Hammer’s U Can’t Touch This, Barbie Girl by Aqua, Reach by S Club 7 as well as the Macarena, accompanied by a clip of staff dancing along on the tables.

One of the final sequences shows a teacher riding a unicycle through the grounds only to take a fall with I Believe I Can Fly by R Kelly as the backing track.

A note at the ends adds that ‘Mr Spires was not harmed in the making of this video’.

Facebook commenter Demi Matthews wrote: “This video makes my day!” while Sheila Cooke added: “None of the teacher’s would have done this in my day, absolutely brilliant. Chris Kettle brilliant as ever lol.”

Rupert W Gibson wrote: “So nice to see teachers enjoy themselves! Have a great summer.” And Kat Kapow added: “This makes me miss life at Bourne Academy so much!!”

Many others were trying to pick out the staff members they recognised.
