Market Deeping Model Railway Club holds taster session at the Deepings School
A model railway taster club has been branded a success by pupils who came along to try it out.
Thanks to their enthusiasm, it will now be held every Monday for pupils at The Deepings School, giving them the opportunity to find out more about model railways and expand their learning.
The pupils that attended the taster club were split into two groups.
One group looked at ideas to model and the other thought about scale.
Members of the Market Deeping Model Railway Club attended with models and sample layouts. Peter Davies, the club’s chairman, said: “We had a long chat and bit of fun and gave them the idea of things that are possible.
“I loved it - it’s great to see bright, smiling faces,” he added.
This is part of The Deepings Schools ‘STEM’ learning which combines science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The club will teach pupils about electronics, 3D printing, ratio, angles, art and engineering.
Peter said: “In terms of adding to STEM our Model Railway Club has a lot to offer.
“As a club we understand that.”
Stamford Model Railway are holding their first meeting this Sunday at 2.30pm.
The meeting is taking place at The Retail Data Partnership on the industrial estate in Essendine.
