Brothers at Stamford Endowed Schools complete marathon distance for Asthma UK

Two determined brothers completed a marathon distance to raise funds for their chosen charity.

Riley Vines, 13, came up with idea of running a to raise money for Asthma UK ahead of World Asthma Day on May 4.

Keen to help, nine-year-old brother Tait agreed to take part in the 26-mile run on Thursday last week, which they spread over a 12-hour period.

Explaining why they chose Asthma UK, their mum, Lindsay-Jane, said: “Riley has been a sufferer of quite severe, seasonal asthma.

"It generally sees him hospitalised in May to June for a couple of days to stabilise his breathing.”

Ahead of the run the pair, who live in Wittering and are pupils at Stamford Endowed Schools, set a target to raise £100 for the charity.

But after the JustGiving page was shared donations flooded in, bringing their total to more than £1,100.

Lindsay-Jane said: “If they gave up no one would have thought any less of them but that wasn’t up for debate. As a parent I’m exceptionally proud - it was a bit overwhelming.”

Lindsay-Jane added: “They were in their pyjamas the whole next day and I didn’t mind that they were watching TV and on the Xbox most of the day.

“There was lots of tin man-style walking.”
