Bourne housebuilder Allison Homes donates 10,000 bricks to Stamford College's bricklaying students

A housebuilder has donated more than 10,000 bricks to Stamford College to help students.

Delivered in 27 pallets, it is estimated the bricks given by Allison Homes will last the college between two or three years and used as part of its bricklaying courses.

Students will learn and practise construction skills by building and rebuilding wall structures using the bricks, honing skills in the process that will last them a lifetime and propel them into their desired careers.

Emma Hill, head of department for technical skills at Stamford College, said: “This donation has provided all our students with good quality resources and exposure to a wider range of bricks to further develop their practical skills, preparing them for on-site
employment.

“At present building materials have significantly increased in cost, therefore as a college we are truly grateful and appreciate Allison’s generous support and look forward to continue our partnership with their company in the future.”

Rob Crossland, construction director at Allison Homes, said: “Many of our trade apprentices have come from Stamford College so we have a long-standing relationship.

“Plus, being based in nearby Bourne and having two developments local to the college, we thought that it was important to support them where we could.

“We believe that it is hugely important to encourage young talent in the construction sector and provide students with the best resources possible, and we hope our donation will benefit the apprentices for many years to come.”
