Car Iconics host Jaguar event at former Ashwell Prison

Hundreds of motor enthusiasts flocked to a former prison for an event to celebrate 100 years of the Jaguar.

Oakham-based Car Iconics hosted the celebration at the site of the former HMP Ashwell.

Stephen Gannon, who runs the company with his son Daniel, said: "It was absolutely amazing.

"I was really impressed with the visitors we had here and the support we received."

During the two-day event more than 400 people attended, including speakers who had worked in the car industry and who were described by Stephen as 'Jaguar royalty'.

"It was quite an emotional day," he said.

"As a business we have been developing a brand over the past seven years. We don't sell cars for their brand, instead we want to sell great cars.

"The people who are our customers really understand that and are looking for cars in an exceptional condition. Cars with a great story."

The oldest car at the event was a Jaguar SS1 Tourer from 1934.
