Bumper season at Aqua Park

Thrill-seekers embraced the summer sunshine and made 2018 the best year ever for Aqua Park Rutland.

More than 54,000 people visited the attraction this season to enjoy the inflatable obstacles at Rutland Water.

The attraction received a certificate of excellence from Trip Advisor and was recognised by the Royal Life Saving Society as an official lifeguard training centre.

Co-founder Richard Drinkwater is delighted with the reaction this summer and is already looking at new ideas to make next year bigger and better.

He said: “We’ve had a fantastic third season, made even better by the glorious hot weather throughout July and August.

“Our visitor numbers have continued to grow year on year and this season was no exception. The park proved popular with families and groups of friends looking to splash out and cool down.

We have big plans for next year. The park will grow in size, featuring a range of exciting new obstacles that will suit all members of the family, from the little ones to big kids and parents.”

The Aqua Park opened in 2016 and raises money for The Air Ambulance Service each year. This year the team donated £1,100 to support services across the Midlands and the national Children’s Air Ambulance.

Spokesman Jo Payne said: “We’re delighted to receive these vital funds from Aqua Park Rutland. They will help us to deliver critical care to patients as quickly and as safely as possible.”
