Stamford Business Club set to launch
A new business club will launch in Stamford next week.
For years, businesses were represented by Stamford Chamber of Commerce but recently the chamber was merged with the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce.
Fearing there would be a lack of representation for businesses in Stamford and wanting to replicate the success of a similar business club in Grantham, the idea for a Stamford Business Club was born.
Joe Scarborough, who owns about half a dozen businesses and moved to Stamford three years ago, has been nominated as chairman and is looking forward to the first meeting on Tuesday (November 16).
It will take place from 7pm to 9pm at the William Cecil Hotel in Stamford and is not just aimed at those who already run or own businesses, but also entrepreneurs or those who aspire to one day run their own
business.
“Having a club where businesses can connect will be such a fantastic thing for Stamford, and the merging of the chambers of commerce gave us an opportunity to look at what we were doing and re-energise it,” said
Joe.
The idea is being backed by South Kesteven District Council and leader Kelham Cooke (Con) is planning to attend the first meeting on Tuesday.
He hopes to use it as an opportunity to outline the support the district council can offer to businesses, including covid-support grants, some of which are still available to apply for.
The aim of the club is to run monthly meetings, where there will be guest and keynote speakers from a range of backgrounds, who will share their knowledge on a range of subjects. There will also be the opportunity to network.
