Moores Estate Agents and C and M Retail Group join forces to develop land at Hawksmead Business Park in Oakham and create new jobs

A joint venture to develop land behind the Aldi supermarket in Oakham will create up to 20 new jobs.

Moores Estate Agents and C and M Retail Group plan to build an industrial unit, vehicle showroom and offices on the Hawksmead Business Park off Hackamore Way.

Both companies have been looking for new sites to expand their businesses for some time and were delighted when planning permission was granted by Rutland County Council’s planning committee on Tuesday evening.

Managing director of Moores Estate Agents, Vernon Moore, said: "We joined forces with C and M to put plans together that would work for both of us.

"The team have known about it for some time but it's nice to be able to get on with it. These are exciting times."

The industrial unit and a retail area will be used by C and M Tractors which deals with the supply and maintenance of garden and agricultural equipment.

The two office buildings will be used by Moores to create a "one-stop shop for everything that relates to property".

Vernon will base the business on a popular American and Australian model which brings property, legal, architectural and financial services under one roof.

He said: "We will still have a presence on the high street but agents are expected to go out and meet customers rather than them come to see us.

"We partner up with lots of other people but at the moment we only have one meeting room. Having more flexible premises will encourage people to come in and meet with the different people we work with."

Building work could start in the summer and be completed by the end of the year.

New jobs will be created across the two businesses.
