Cakes and Co opens in Stamford Walk with customers queuing outside the door on the opening day

A new cakery has opened in Stamford and is already proving popular with customers queuing outside the door on the opening day.

Cakes and Co opened its doors in Stamford Walk on Friday last week.

Owned by Linda Gomila, her daughter Jade West and son-in-law Stewart, they promise to offer sustainable and great quality baked goods, using local ingredients.

As well as a range of freshly baked cakes including vegan and gluten-free options, there’s also light lunches, coffee, a selection of teas, soft drinks and fresh veg juices. The trio even have an outdoor growing garden and the menu will change seasonally to reflect this.

There’s an outdoor seating area for diners to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere.

Linda said the response to the opening day and a special preview evening had been overwhelming.

She said that with the opening of the new cakery and the addition of plants from Stamford in Bloom, Stamford Walk had been revitalised.

“It’s been fantastic so far and we hope the people of Stamford will continue to support us,” Linda said.

The family have recently moved to Stamford to be nearer to other relatives but Stewart and Jade both have experience as restaurateurs with Stewart having previously worked in Michelin-starred kitchens.

The cafe is open Wednesday to Sunday. More details at www.cakesandcostamford.com.
