Cancellation of Burghley Horse Trials and Rutland Open Studios inspires Ketton artist Gillian Durno to host an exhibition at Stamford Contemporary Arts
An artist is showcasing her work at a Stamford gallery after her regular events were cancelled this year.
Gillian Durno usually takes part in the Rutland Open Studios and sells her paintings at Burghley Horse Trials, but both are cancelled because of the pandemic.
She is now hosting a month-long exhibition at Stamford Contemporary Arts with a focus on landscapes, seascapes and still life.
Lockdown has given her the chance to work on new pieces including paintings of Norfolk and St Ives.
As a mixed media artist, she photographs and sketches the scenes before working on the final pieces at her studio in North Luffenham.
The exhibition is at Stamford Contemporary Arts in Maiden Lane until Saturday, August 22. The gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 5pm.
Gillian, who teaches children's workshops at Stamford Arts Centre, also exhibits work at Duncan R Miller Fine Arts in London after she was spotted by an art dealer in Oakham.
