Priory Court Care Home, in Stamford, upgraded to 'good' rating after Care Quality Commission inspection

A Stamford care home has been awarded an overall ‘good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), less than three years after being told it needed to improve.

Priory Court was rated good in all key areas of safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led following an inspection in June.

A CQC report published in October 2019 had given the care home ‘requires improvement’ ratings in the same five areas.

But the latest report said improvements had been made and the provider, Northampton-based Avery Homes (Nelson), was no longer in breach of regulations.

Residents were found to have 'maximum choice and control of their lives’, and staff were trained in keeping people safe from abuse and knew how to raise concerns.

Inspectors said there were enough staff to meet people’s needs ‘in a calm unrushed manner', while people’s privacy and dignity were respected, and activities were provided to keep them engaged.

"Systems were in place to monitor the quality of care provided," the report added.

"The registered manager gathered views of people and their relatives. All this information was used to improve the care provided."
