Alysia Caring plan £12m home as part of the proposed 110-home development at St Peter's Meadow in Bourne

A £12m care home is planned as part of a major housing development in Bourne.

Alysia Caring Ltd has submitted a planning application for the scheme on land off Beaufort Drive.

The application to South Kesteven District Council adds to proposals for 110 homes from the Longhurst Group to create a development called St Peter's Meadow.

A planning application has has yet to be submitted for the 110 homes, but both schemes were presented together to the Bourne public and Bourne Town Council as part of a consultation process.

The two-storey care home will have 80 beds and will be joined by 22 retirement apartments, which will be spread over both levels.

The care home will cater for those needing residential care and also for those with dementia. Nursing care will also be available.

The home also promises a GP treatment room, spacious lounges/dining areas, cafe and bistro, hair and nail salon, plus a cinema.

Joga Atwal, the chief executive of Alysia Caring said: “It’s a well-needed development. It will bring over 100 jobs full-time and part-time.

“We are looking at as development cost of £12m. It’s a significant investment for the group. It’s a modern building and it will have state-of-the-art
facilities.”

“We will start work on it as soon as we get planning permission. Hopefully it will go through in
March.”

A Longhurst Group spokesman said its proposals address a ‘critical need’ for affordable housing in Bourne. It’s application, which follows careful consideration of views expressed in the public consultation, has been submitted to SKDC and should be validated early in
January.
