Rutland canine nutritionist launches new range of premium dog food
Beef with green beans, tomato and courgette, or venison and salmon with sweet potato and mulberry.
It may sound like the menu at a Michelin Star restaurant but this is actually a new range of premium dog food dreamt up by a canine nutritionist from Oakham.
Carole Sandhu is launching Dogs Delight having worked as a registered dietitian for over 25 years both in the NHS and private sector and then taking further qualifications in canine nutrition.
Besides a range of tasty main courses, she has also developed a variety of healthy, hand-baked artisan dog biscuits and treats including 'Tuna Scones', 'Cheesy Grins' and 'Clean Teeth'.
Carole, who is also a regular nutrition feature writer for Edition Dog magazine, said: “With a passion for the health and well-being of our four-legged friends, I had been looking for a way to impart my passion for dog nutrition to a wider audience for a long time. From specially designed puppy food for large and small breeds, delicious food for helping adult dogs keep to a health weight to sports nutrition for active dogs to give them that winning edge, we are devoted to providing a complete and balanced diet which allows our canine companions to meet their full nutritional requirements because we know this is the cornerstone of optimal health and longevity.”
She added: “At Dogs Delight, our foods go one step further and provide a diet that supports health in certain key areas depending on the needs of the individual dog. One of the ways we can adapt nutrition to support health in dogs is with the use of nutraceuticals. Added to Dogs Delight foods, these are the health nutrients which can provide a specific health benefit over and above their nutritional value.”
Carole is holding an open day for people and their pooches on Saturday, August 8, between 10am and 4pm at the new premises on Oakham Enterprise Park, Ashwell Road. There will be a 10 per cent introductory discount and free goody bags.
Products are available online at www-dogs-delight.co.uk and can also be purchased on Saturdays between 10am and 4pm. The website features information on special diets for dogs ranging from mild upset tummy symptoms to conditions such as pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease and kidney disease.
A personal consultation with Carole can be booked via the website with dog owners given evidence-based advice to ensure they can make informed decisions for their pet. A full dietary assessment of the dog’s individual nutritional requirements can be provided over the phone, by email or by Zoom video call.
