Castle Bytham Midsummer Festival has plenty of talent to sing about

There’s great news for visitors to Castle Bytham’s Midsummer Festival this weekend.

The DMU Gospel Choir, semi-finalists in last month’s Britain’s Got Talent, will perform at the festival on the afternoon of Sunday, June 24.

Following their success on BGT, and their appearances with Kasabian on last year’s national tour, this amazing choir is sure to raise everyone’s spirits with their exhilarating take on soul, rock and gospel standards.

The choir is just one of many performers taking part on both days.

The Tin Pigeons make a welcome return on Sunday, despite the pressures of increasing national success, while Saturday's line-up of performers include Stamford-based Chloe Lorentzen, who has raised thousands of pounds for War Child UK, The Ruby Doos, The Band From County Hell, Rutland-based Centre Excuse and Indie rockers Don’t Forget Rupert.

The exciting and extensive music line-up on two stages forms just one part of the two day festival.

On Saturday, there’s a 5K run, Open Village and Village Walk, and a wheelbarrow-dressing competition.

Sunday brings 60+ market stalls, street entertainers, dog show, duck race and tombola, with kids’ activities and archery on the events field.

On both days you’ll find a beer festival with 24 ales, BBQ and veggie/vegan tent, and the Village Hall will be offering tea, cakes and light lunches on Sunday.

And for the icing on the cake on Sunday a flypast by the BBMF Dakota and the Red Arrows - weather permitting - is expected.
