The Bythams Spinney stages a spring celebration
Families took part in an activity day to mark the welcome arrival of spring.
The Bythams Spinney was the setting for the "Spinney Spring Thing" event on Saturday with an array of nature-themed activities.
As well as enjoying the freedom to play in the woodland, visitors were able to take part in a range of crafts with the help of artist Jo Schofield.
Refreshments were provided by the Friends of the Bythams School.
Chairman of the Bythams Woodlands Trust, Patrick Candler, was delighted to see so many people take part, having cancelled the previous event due to bad weather.
He said: "We had a fantastic day. The atmosphere was very chilled out and it was lovely to welcome some newcomers who had never visited The Spinney before.
"We were able to incorporate the tree dressing, art activities and celebrate the Queen's platinum jubilee by offering souvenirs to make and take home."
The Spinney, based on the outskirts of Little Bytham, is managed by The Bythams Woodland Trust. The charity will celebrate is 20th anniversary next year and hopes to mark the occasion by installing new play equipment.
A £100,000 appeal will be launched shortly with a view to starting installation work later this year.
The facility is free to use but the project can be supported in a number of ways.
It is part of the South Kesteven District Council lottery where 50p from every £1 entry goes to a chosen charity, with The Spinney as one of the options.
