Bourne Elsea Park and Bourne Abbey CE Primary Academy pupils learn how to stay safe online
Online safety officer Neil Bontoft from Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Partnership delivered E-Safety workshops to Year 6 children at Bourne Elsea Park and Bourne Abbey CE Primary Academies.
Neil started by discussing the good side of technology, especially during the last couple of years.
The children shared their ideas including keeping in touch with family and friends, playing with friends, finding inspiration online, helping with schoolwork and so much more.
The workshop focussed on photos and sharing these online, and pupils spent time discussing why people take selfies and the pressure that social media puts on children and adults to look a certain way.
Neil then discussed the topic of sending photos and asked the children to think how they would feel if different people asked them to send a picture including family members, friends and strangers.
He explained that if anyone asked them to send an embarrassing photo they should block them, report them, and tell a trusted adult.
Miss Worrall, the academy's E-Safety Leader, explained: "We understand the importance of helping our children to stay safe online, especially in the ever-changing world of technology.
"We always look forward to our E-safety workshops with Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and once again it was a fantastic addition to our E-Safety curriculum, supporting our children as they navigate the online world."
