The family of an Oakham woman who was the victim of an attempted murder said they are 'over the moon' the man has been put behind bars.
Robert Truscott, 48, of Lowther Close, Langham, was sentenced today (Wednesday, February 2) at Leicester Crown Court for 29 years for attempted murder, unlawful wounding and possession of a dangerous weapon.
In January last year he went to the home of Emma Wolfenden in Bullfinch Close, Oakham and stabbed her 10 times. He also caused injury to a 26-year-old man she had met on the dating website, Tinder.
Emma was taken to hospital where she remained for three months undergoing treatment and surgery before being discharged in April.
In June 2021, Emma sadly died at her home. Following a post mortem examination, it was found the cause of her death was not directly linked to the injuries caused by Truscott.
After he was sentenced this morning the family shared their relief that he has has been jailed for 29 years.
They said: "We are over the moon with the sentence he has received.
"It doesn't bring Emma back but as a family it brings some closure to the act of what he did."
They added: "We don't forgive him, we never will. Emma was his friend and he betrayed her."
