Oakham cocktail bar Orbis is a hit with customers on its opening night
A cocktail bar opened to rave reviews from people looking to enjoy something new in Oakham.
Orbis in Church Street opened to the public on Saturday following a launch night for invited guests on Friday evening last week.
Owner Jonathan Spencer was delighted with the response to his latest business venture in the town. He also runs Bill's Bar in Melton Road, Oakham.
He said: "The opening was so successful we had to turn people away - I've only got 46 seats so there was nothing else we could do.
"People absolutely loved the quality of the food and cocktails."
Orbis offers a menu of international sharing platters, fine wines and cocktails.
Head chef Sam McDonald, pictured right, will launch the full menu tomorrow (Wednesday).
Together with Jonathan he has taken the decision to make the whole menu gluten free to make it more accessible.
The team have also added stools at the bar as a result of feedback from customers on the opening night.
Jonathan said: "We've very happy to hear people's views on how we can improve.
"The staff have had more training so they can make recommendations on cocktails and we've added extra seating at the bar."
If Orbis is a hit, Jonathan hopes to open branches in Stamford and Uppingham.
The bar is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11am until 11pm with food served from 11.30am until 2.30pm and 5.30pm until 9.30pm.
Guests can book a table even if they are only visiting for drinks.
